COSTI - 8515 McCowan Road, Markham, hosted a P.Eng. licensing seminar on February 7th, 2009. 14 internationally trained engineers participated. The seminar was conducted by Ranee Mahalingam, M.Eng., P.Eng. and Asogan Narayanapillai, P.Eng.

We, fourteen professionals with international engineering experiences, attended today’s PEO information session at COSTI employment center of Warden and 14th Avenue.

Ms. Ranee Mahalingam introduced regulatory agency PEO and P.Eng License, Licensing Process and then presented job searching skills. She gave us a lot of useful tips for getting a job including cover letter, resume and interview skills. Also a list of website for job searching was offered by Ranee.

Mr. N.Asogan introduced how to apply for a P.Eng license and how to fill in the application form in detail. Then he shared us his own experiences of how to get a job in Canada.

Both Ranee and Asogan encouraged us do net working to get more employment chances.

I would like to thank you , P.Eng. Ranee Mahalingam and Scarborough Chapter for the valuable lectures we had on Saturday Feb. 07, 2009 at COSTI Center . The following subjects were covered in full and I feel that we were enlightened by the valuable information we had on the following subjects :

4- How to submit the experience file .

5- How to enhance resume for jobs application .

These subjects are very important for new comers to Canada . I would like to use this opportunity to suggest more role for PEO with new engineers comers by counseling and giving more lectures and even placement in some enterprises even with out pay .
