Mathletics is a special type of mathematical competition organized by PEO Scarborough Chapter and open to the students from all, public, catholic and private schools. Structured on two categories, Junior (grade 6 and below), and Senior (grades 7 and 8), Mathletics is designed to create passion, the students are challenged to be in the same time active and creative in applying mathematics to solve problems from day to day life, with science or engineering content.
The competition dedicated to Scarborough schools will take place Sunday, November 15th, and will be hosted by Centennial College, Morningside Campus (Centennial Science and Technology Centre, 755 Morningside Ave).
The winners of the first five places at each category will be awarded prices with the value between $100 and $20, all gift cards, and will qualify for the provincial level of Mathletics, which will be organized again by the PEO Scarborough Chapter on November 28th.

Everybody can remember that in the past it was a tradition for the Romanian students to participate with real success at the International Olympics in Mathematics and Sciences. We would like to see that this tradition had not been lost once the former Olympics students emigrated to Canada (or to other parts of the world), and we wish to have many Romanian students who will participate and win prices at Mathletics 2009.
